Karen Peralta – Associate Attorney, Lubbock Office
About
Karen Peralta was born and raised in San Fernando, California, in the heart of the San Fernando Valley’s immigrant community. As the daughter of immigrant parents from Zacatecas, Mexico, she witnessed firsthand the challenges her family faced while working toward a more secure future in the United States. As the oldest child, Karen often took on responsibilities beyond her years, including translating legal and medical documents from the age of six. When her parents
eventually obtained lawful permanent resident status, she saw just how profoundly immigration relief could transform a family’s life. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in immigration law and help other families find the same hope and peace of mind.
In 2017, Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She moved to Lubbock, Texas in May 2025 and joined Whittenburg Law Firm as a law clerk in January 2026 during her final semester of law school. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from UC Law San Francisco in May 2026. After being admitted to the State Bar of Texas in October 2026, Karen became an Associate Attorney with Whittenburg Law Firm and has focused exclusively on Immigration and
Nationality Law since then. As an attorney, she is committed to advocating for immigrant families with compassion, honesty, and a dedication to helping clients navigate the immigration process with confidence.
In her free time, Karen enjoys cooking, traveling, and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Edwin, and their dog, Penny.
